Sir Richard Hutton (? 1561-1639) was the second son of Anthony Hutton, of Hutton Hall, Penrith, Cumberland, and Elizabeth, daughter of Thomas Musgrave, of Hayton, Cumberland. He read divinity for a time at Jesus College, Oxford, with a view to taking holy orders, but opted instead to pursue a career in the law.
